Test Principle:Annexin V, one member of the annexin family, preferentially binds phosphatidylserine (PS). In living cells, PS is predominantly located in the internal part of the plasma membrane. However, at the onset of apoptosis, PS in the cytoplasmic interface is rapidly translocated and exposed to the external portion of the membrane. The PS becomes available to bind to the annexin V-mCherry conjugate and the apoptotic cells are thus labeled with the mCherry fluorescent probe.
